There are two sounds for number 2-èr、 liǎng, you know how to use it right?

If the numbers is smaller than 10, 2 is pronounced as "liǎng". If the number is between 10 and 99, 2 is read as "èr". If the number is greater than 100, 2 is read as "liǎng".

Let's check out with some examples. Please read 2828, 202 in Mandarin.

2828-liǎng qiān bā bǎi èr shí bā

202-liǎng bǎi líng èr

However, if number 2 is placed after 0, it is pronounced as  " èr". An independent 2(smaller than 10)is read as "liǎng". That's why 202 is read as "liǎng bǎi líng èr ".
