How to do shopping in Chinese? When you want to buy something, you have to know the price. 多少錢duō shǎo qián  means How much is it. It’s the most common way to ask price.

The answer to “多少錢duō shǎo qián is Num+塊錢kuài qián ,means Num dollars. Please always add 塊錢kuài qián after the number when you say a certain amount in Chinese.

Of courseyoucanspecify on somethingand ask the price of it. For example, you want to order a hamburger, and you want to know the price of it. How to ask in Chinese? Yes. 漢堡多少錢hàn bǎo duō shǎo qián ? How much is a hamburger?

You can point at something and ask for it’s price if you don’t know how to say its name in Chinese. 這個zhè ge  means this。這個多少錢zhè ge duō shǎo qián ? How much is this?  那個nà ge means that. You point at something other than this and ask for the price of it. 那個多少錢?nà ge duō shǎo qián ?How much is that?

You can be more specific. For example, you want to know price of this jacket, not other jacket. Here’s how to ask in Chinese. 這個外套多少錢?zhè ge wài tào duō shǎo qián ?How much is this jacket? Sentence Pattern is 這個(zhè ge) S多少錢(duō shǎo qián) ? 那個(nà ge)S多少錢( duō shǎo qián )? How much is this/that?

You can point at anything you’re interested and ask the price of it by using the sentence pattern 這個/那個S多少錢? (zhè ge/nà ge S duō shǎo qián ?)For example, you want to know the price of banana at left side, you point at the left one, and ask “這個香蕉多少錢”(zhè ge xiāng jiāo duō shǎo qián ?). The answer will be only for the banana of the left. For example, “這個香蕉12塊錢”(zhè ge xiāng jiāo shí èr kuài qián )It's $12 for this banana(the banana at left, not other bananas). If you want to know the price for banana in general, you ask”香蕉多少錢?(xiāng jiāo duō shǎo qián ?)”  How much is banana?  The answer will be “一根十塊錢”(xiāng jiāo yì gēn shí kuài qián )One banana for $10.   根 gēn is the measure word for banana.
