How to read Chinese Character? Pinyin is the quick access. Pinyin consists of three parts - consonant, vowel, and tones. For example, "wǒ" consonant is "w", vowel is "o",and the tone is the third tone"v"。More frequently Pinyin is placed above the letters just like the example here "wǒ".

There are four tones in Mandarin Pinyin, the first tone "-", the second tone "/",and the third tone "v",the fourth tone "\"。 The MacDonald symbol would be an interesting way to help you learn and memorize Mandarin Tones. The first tone is the flat tone. The second tone is the rising tone, as the left stroke in letter M. The third tone goes down first and rise up , like the valley in letter M. And the fourth tone is going down, like the right stroke in letter M.

Use the tool-MacDonald symbol to make Mandarin tones easy.

One more time, quick review

The First tone- Flat tone, still on the ground.

The Second tone - going up, the uphill, the rising tone.

The Thrid tone - the valley, goes down and up, dip down and climb up.

The fourth tone - the downhill, goes down.

Isn't it easy and fun to learn Mandarin?

Check out the practice to see if you can pronouce them right.
