We will introduce something about earphones for your practical use in Chinese in this session. Basically, there are four types of headphones. The over-ear headphones, the in-ear earphones, the against-the-ear headphones, and the Bluetooth headset. 耳塞式耳機ěr sè shì ěr jī /耳道式耳機 ěr dǎo shì ěr jī is the in-ear earphones. 耳掛式/掛耳式耳機ěr guà shì/guà ěr shì ěr jī means the same thing: against-the-ear headphones. 全罩式耳機 quán zhào shì ěr jī  is the over-ear headphones. If there is a microphone attached on the headphone, we call it 耳麥ěr mài . Microphones, 麥克風mài kè fēng. The fourth one: bluetooth headset藍芽耳機 lán yá ěr jī.

Examples. 我找不到我的耳機，你看到我的耳機了嗎? wǒ zhǎo bú dào wǒ de ěr jī ，nǐ kàn dào wǒ de ěr jī le ma ？I couldn't find my earphones. Did you see them? 你的音樂太大聲了，請戴耳機。nǐ de yīn yuè tài dà shēng le qǐng dài ěr jī 。Your music is too loud, please wear earphones.

耳機線ěr jī xiàn, earphone cable/cord  Example: 耳機線的長度可以調整ěr jī xiàn de cháng dù kě yǐ tiáo zhěng The length of earphone cable is free to adjust.

One more thing, which is really important, the measure word for earphones is  副fù, means a pair of. 一副耳機yí fù ěr jī , a pair of headphones. Example: 我要買一副新耳機，原來的耳機掉了。wǒ yào mǎi yí fù xīn ěr jī yuán lái de ěr jī diào le 。I need to buy a pair of new earphones, the old ones were lost.
